All white pots are the same clay.
Difference in color is due to my "expert photography skills!" The terra cotta pots are all different
colors due to the inconsistancies coming from the clay producers and their supply source. Since all the pots look the
same size in these photos, keep in mind that a dollar bill is 6" long, so look at the measurements of the piece (located
at the bottom of the picture) and that will give you a good reference for the size. Some of you have asked how dog hair
would do so I did one, it does work, just not as strong a dark line as the coarse horse tail hairs. Cat hair
also works, Leona the cat is shown on page two.
Update
on my June 2011 posting--I now have 3 great grandchildren, 2 girls and a boy--the two girls, now 2yrs and 7 month old have
a play day with me every Wed.! Wonderful, wonderful, will miss them terriably when they move with their army family
this summer.
OCT. 2011--I AM ADDING A NEW TEST LINE TO
MY WEB SITE--FUNCTIONAL CUPS--HIGH FIRED, DISHWASHER AND MICROWAVE SAFE----SHINO CARBON TRAP GLAZE (each of the 6 cups at
#3 were glazed and fired at the same time, they are all different results-some redder or more carbon trap on them or more
luster, don't ask me why! just where they were in the kiln) THE BLACK HAIR LINES DO NOT WASH OFF, THEY ARE PERMANENT.
LET ME KNOW HOW YOU LIKE THEM.
JAN. 2012 I have some
new pots and more in the next two weeks. I will have a grey frame around the new one.
HOW TO ORDER A POT
1. Pick
a pot from my three pages. Make sure it does not say SOLD or ON HOLD. Check the neck of the pot if you want some
hair added around the pot after the horsehair firing. Some of my older pots do not have an indented lip enough to hold
the hair in place. I try and pick glass beads that fit the name of the horse or a color you want (if it's in my box
of beads). There is no extra charge for adding the hair, beads or color on the pot. I just want to do your horse
proud! I get a tremendous amount of pleasure from sharing your love of your horse. You horse people are just plain
"good folks".
2. Send the hair to my address.
Include the name of your horse, or other animal and any dates you want engraved on the bottom of the pot. Be sure and
write clearly. I always email you as soon as I receive your horse hair or payment, so if you don't hear back from me
on either of those occasions within a 10 day period, please email me to see if they got to me ok. Not had a problem
except for one time.
3. I try and do the pot within
two days of receiving your hair. I email you a photo of the finished piece and the shipping costs. I ship by United
States Postal Service, parcel post. I get a tracking no. and insurance. The cost averages from $13 to $16 for
a 12" x 12" box. Most fall in the $14.50 range. You pay me when you receive the pot intact and
you like it. After all this time, I've only had one person not pay.
